This piece of calligraphy artwork meaning is Kindness, a Chinese character "Shan" 善. It was using Chinese brush, traditional ink handwritten on sprinkled golden rice paper, and It was a semi-cursive script style in Chinese calligraphy.
The short paragraph on the right side of this work roughly translates to: Today's good fortune and goodness are fundamental. 今之福相善為根本.
