Generally, appreciation of Chinese traditional calligraphy is read from the right side to the left side. This piece couplet - right side artwork means is "The returning to the start of a new year". 一元復始. left side artwork means is "The renewal of everything"-萬象更新. It was written in seal script style (1122 - 221 B.C.) in Chinese Calligraphy and using Chinese brush and traditional ink on sprinkle gold with dragon and phoenix pattern rice paper.
Calligraphy is a kind of line art and abstract art that humans express emotions. Chinese calligraphy is the essence of Chinese culture because it is a unique and visual art that covers Chinese language, history, philosophy, calligraphy, and aesthetics.
