Description
New Year Celebration Couplet Calligraphy. Original handwritten artwork painting by Carmen Lam. https://carmen-lam.pixels.com
Handwritten spring couplets for Chinese Lunar New Year. They are put up on doors or pillars to bring good luck and fortune in the new year. The text runs from top to bottom, right to left.
This piece of artwork roughly translates to: A lucky star shines on a peaceful house. 吉星永照平安府 (right side). Eternal blessing on a charitable family. 福運長臨積善家. (left side), coming with a pair for sale.
Generally, appreciation of Chinese traditional calligraphy is read from the right side to the left side. It was written in seal script style (1122 - 221 B.C.) in Chinese Calligraphy and using Chinese brush and traditional ink on sprinkle gold with dragon and phoenix pattern rice paper. The small sentence on the right side is: A lucky star shines on a peaceful house, Eternal blessing on a charitable family. The small sentence on the left side is good luck every year, followed by my full Chinese name signature.
